The word "Yoga" means "union", and it is an exercise based on the
believe that the breath and mind are deeply connected with one another.
The exercises are designed to ease tense muscles and improve
flexibility while toning the internal organs.
Yoga originated in India and has a very long history dating back
thousands of years, and many Buddhist teachings are based on the
original yoga meditative techniques. Meditation was the essential part
of yoga in the past but in modern day yoga fitness, an emphasis is put
on the physical exercise itself.
Yoga fitness has been shown to relieve headaches, fatigue, insomnia,
and improve overall health by improving posture, breathing and reducing
stress. But just like any other exercise routine you have to be
dedicated and follow the practices on a regular basis to get results.
Tips to be More Successful at Yoga
1.) Be determined and organized.
Determination is pretty much a given. Being determined is going to
improve your chances of success in just about anything. Try to convince
yourself that you really want to do it by coming up with good reasons
to want to try. And things will go much more smoothly if you plan out a
schedule and stay organized.
2.) Breath properly and a clear your mind.
Breathing is an essential part of yoga, and will make the exercises
much more effective. Consciously breathing will also help to clear your
mind of all other worries and responsibilities by putting you in a
meditative state so you can focus on the task at hand.
3.) Learn to be patient and don't over exert yourself.
You can't change your body overnight with yoga fitness, but regular and
routine practices of yoga postures and meditation can help you make
significant changes in a short amount of time. You shouldn't worry to
much about the short term effects but more on the long term goals you
want to achieve. And remember yoga is meant to relieve stress in your
body so if you have to strain to hard for a certain posture than don't
do it. As you start to learn and understand your body better than you
can start to push your limits further and give yourself more of a
challenge.
4.) Proper clothing and eating pattern.
You should wear comfortable clothing that won't obstruct your movements
to much as many of the exercises require a cross legged posture. And
try not to eat a big meal before doing yoga fitness. Ideally your
stomach should be empty which will put less strain on your body when
performing many of the different exercise techniques.
5.) Best time of the day to practice yoga fitness.
The best time to do yoga as with any other exercise routine is right
when you wake up. This is the time when your mind is the most clear and
refreshed, allowing you to enter that meditative state more easily and
to practice with greater awareness. It will also help to get your blood
flowing to invigorate your body and give you more energy through-out
the rest of your day.
Yoga helps you gain control of your overall health and well being, but
keep in mind that it is not a cure or the sole treatment for a specific
ailment or disease. You should always seek out a physician's advice
before you begin any exercise.
